I tried the 5-4-3-2-1 Packing Method. Does it *ACTUALLY* work?
Sharing notes + everything I wore from my recent trip to Brisbane
I’ve always been a light packer.
Not in an “I travelled Europe for a month with only a carry on” kind of way. It’s just that I really value packing light. I like the idea of sailing straight out of an airport once you’ve landed, rather than waiting around at the baggage carousel hoping your suitcase will be unloaded during one of the first “drops”. And over time, you get pretty decent at editing things down. I’ve even managed a winter trip to New Zealand with the kids (2.5 years and 4 months) with a shared carry on (honestly to this day I have no idea how I managed this!).
So when we booked a short five-day trip to Brisbane, I wasn’t too stressed about packing. If anything, I saw it as an opportunity to try a new packing formula; the 5-4-3-2-1 method.
This was less about minimising luggage space (I shared one half of this large sized case with my two kids), but more to see if this kind of structured approach could take some of the mental load off, while maybe giving me more options that I’d usually consider packing.
