Sharing a handful of outfits that I’ve worn over the last eight weeks. Rooted in simplicity - bar one - they share the common trope of being grounded by some of my favourite basics.
Some of the ways I find you can make summer dressing feel more interesting, is to add in one of these three things: texture, colour, or shape.
Wearing YSL tee (old but similar), Mo&Co trousers (on sale), AERE sandals, MONOROW bag (10% off with MADEMOISELLE10)
One of the benefits of doing a full wardrobe audit is uncovering some of your old favourites. Case in point, this rather timeless striped tee - which at the time I added it to my closet, was an upgrade on a well worn Brandy Melville staple of mine. Choosing to make the tee the focus, I kept everything else to a black colour palette. This makes that horizontal stripe seem even more striking. Also, is there anything more chic than fluid drape trousers worn with sandals? Perhaps my favourite summer pairing.
Wearing Karen Walker top, Everlane shorts, Sezane bag, Monica Vinader bracelet (25% off with JAMIELEEMV25)
An example of how to add an interesting shape into a basic outfit. Here, swapping out my usual go-to tank for this cami with a peplum hem. On the surface this might feel like a dressy piece, but it works back to foundation pieces like shorts and jeans really well.
Wearing H&M tank (AU link here), Sportscraft trousers, Andersons belt, Tibi sandals (old), St Agni bag
RIP my beloved St Agni woven shoulder bag - my cat’s latest victim from my closet. It was often one of the key ways I added in interest through texture (along with the belt in this outfit). You can see I’ve matched my accessories here, all in a cohesive chocolate brown. This is a good trick to fall back on when the styling feels off in some way, or want the outfit to feel clean and polished.
