This week has been pretty mixed weather-wise. Always my barometer for how I’ll be dressing. I tend to approach my outfits by building them around one key piece, which has never felt more evident than in this week, where each day I felt a certain pull to a specific item in my closet. So let’s get on with the outfits…
MONDAY
First up, Monday. If memory serves it was around the 30 deg C mark. So hot. Outfit needed to be polished, but I was happy to bare a little bit of skin. This silky scarf from Goelia immediately caught my eye when getting dressed and seemed like a no-brainer to wear it as a strapless top. The shorts have a tailored cut, and instantly seem to elevate any look (even a basic tee). Warmer days are always the hardest for adding in textural interest so really used my accessories here to my advantage - the mock croc and woven leather both in a delightful chocolate brown adding in some subtle colour variation too.
I was wearing: Goelia silk scarf (25% off with JAMIE25), SIR. the Label shorts, YSL slides, St Agni bag (bought from The Undone but also available here), Adornmonde earrings (15% off with Jamie15), Monica Vinader necklace
TUESDAY
Tuesday’s outfit was centred around these high waisted trousers from Karen Walker. I bought these a few years ago, and they always spark joy when I reach for them. I love the high waisted design and slightly flared fit through the leg. Thankfully also quite breezy - no fabric touching the skin - which was necessary as it was another 30+ deg C day. Also on hem lengths - as I often get asked this - a cropped pant usually works best when it is 1 finger width (or so) above the ankle, or kissing the top of the ankle bone. There aren’t too many prints in my wardrobe, but I do love a good ditsy floral - which now looking back, I can see elements from Monday’s look coming through in my Tuesday outfit. Which in some ways, goes back to that idea of creating a series of go-to combinations or looks, which helps make getting dressed a breeze. Sometimes this is something we will do sub-consciously as we know what works for us.
I was wearing: Sezane silk cami, Karen Walker trousers, Andersons belt, YSL slides, St Agni bag (bought from The Undone but also available here), Flash Jewellery earrings, Sarah & Sebastian necklace, Mejuri ring (10% off with this link)
WEDNESDAY
My favourite outfit of the week, hands down. I’d been getting hit with tonnes of images of girls wearing longline vests, and it inspired me to pull out my own (part of a set) and style it up a little differently. I’ve done a full blog post here talking about a handful of ways you can style it which you can read here if you want more inspo! Breaking it down, this vest feels quite formal with that buttoned up neckline. Thinking about friction (and literal colour contrasts), I wanted to add in a piece that felt more chilled out. A straight leg jean was a no brainer. Ballet flats give into that sense of femininity and classicism in many of my outfits. And then I finally switched out my bag! Opted for a shoulder style which I can also wear crossbody - much more practical when I’ve got the kids.
I was wearing: Posse linen vest (also like this one and this one), Arket jeans, About Arianne ballet flats, Saben bag (15% off with JAMIELOVESSABEN15), Adornmonde earrings (15% off with Jamie15), Gingiberi necklace (15% off with jamielee15)
